A Letter to Friends and Families from the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania
Friends and families,
Thank you for your continued support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our guidance from state and federal governing bodies changes at a rapid pace. Many of the recent changes surround testing of our residents/staff and the impact on our reopening plan. Our main goals remain to provide high-quality care and to keep your loved ones safe.
Our letter last week discussed guidance our routine testing of staff, which was monthly for our community based on the incident rate in Lackawanna County which is green. We are very pleased to say that 100% of our staff tested were COVID-19 free! This means our reopening plan stays at Level 3, which means patio visits are able to continue.
Recent communication from the Department of Health and CMS shared that studies have shown that wearing eye protection such as face shield or closed goggles reduces the transmission of COVID19 to health care workers. Guidelines have changed requiring staff to use this type of protection in resident areas and in contact with residents. This will be done when caring for residents in all zones.
