Maintenance Mechanic Asst.I

Hours: Full time day shift

Must be available for rotating weekends and holidays.

SUMMARY: Installs, repairs and maintains all building systems as related to the health care facility which includes HVAC, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, plumbing, electrical alarm systems, nurse call, and other as may be assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Filter changes on various air handling equipment.

Lubrication of pumps, bearings, and motors per schedule.

Repair or replacement of electrical items including but not limited to lights, light fixtures, ballasts, switches, outlets, nurse call system and electric beds.

Painting both touchup and renovation.

Wall patching and wall repair.

Repair and replacement of floor and ceiling tile.

Cleaning of various mechanical equipment including but not limited to refrigeration coils,

exhaust fans, and light fixtures.

Checks emergency equipment such as generator, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and

emergency lights.

Moves furniture such as resident room changes, meetings, etc.

Unloads trucks, delivers to proper departments, and properly completes required inventory records.

Maintains tool and supply inventory.

Completes work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards.

Estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.

Adheres to company policies and enforces safety regulations.

Establishes or adjusts work schedules to coordinate work performed in other departments.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

Shampooing of carpets as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year experience in floor care  preferred.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate floor care equipment properly and safely.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Must be reliable and responsible.

Must wear clothing safe and appropriate for all areas of building (no ripped clothes).

Ability to work cooperatively with others, both in and outside of department.

Ability to work and function in a responsible manner with minimal supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
