Dear Friends and Community:
I’m pleased to introduce myself as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. I’m excited to be here and look forward to advancing our organizational Mission and service to the community.
I thank Rabbi Sandhaus for his strong leadership for nearly 40 years and the entire staff which has been committed to high quality and resident-centered care. I remain most impressed with the work efforts and results of our entire staff and the strong and passionate leadership of our Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
I’ve been spending my time meeting with internal staff, Board leadership, and a wide range of civic, religious, business, and philanthropic community leadership. I’ve spent time throughout Scranton as well as Wilkes-Barre and the Poconos to aid in my understanding of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, its affiliated organizations, the older adult marketplace, and the Northeastern Pennsylvania environment.
My overall objective is to elevate and advance the success of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania and its affiliated organizations. This success will serve as a significant asset to the Jewish community. This will bring value and contribute to the quality of life in Scranton and neighboring communities.
I’ve spent my entire career in healthcare management. This includes roles in hospital administration, healthcare consulting and leading a major Chicago based older adult provider and service organization for 14 years. I have a deep history in Jewish communal leadership and a strong belief in the values and benefits of faith-based organizations.
I’ve been married to Patty for 25 years. Our daughter Samie works in Chicago in corporate event management and our son Daniel is in his senior year at Michigan State University. My immediate family is expanded with our dog, Oliver, our cat, Toby, two birds, and a fish tank.
I enjoy all types of sports and outdoor activities. You will see me at the JCC, swimming almost every day. I also like to hike, bike, and play tennis. I will be taking up fishing to take advantage of the many lakes and streams throughout the area.
I graduated from the University at Buffalo with a B.A. in Political Science. I remain very connected to my undergraduate school and currently serve on our Alumni Association Board of Directors. I received my M.H.S.A. from the University of Michigan.
My email address is mweiner@jhep and my phone number is 570-344-6177 ext 1101. I welcome your comments and questions.
With good wishes,
Mark D. Weiner
