SafeBeing™ Monitor

The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania and Elan Gardens is committed to using innovative, cutting edge technology to serve our community better and provide well-being for our residents. We are proud to use SafeBeing™ to help monitor daily living activities.

SafeBeing™ is a gesture detection solution, the first of its kind, which was developed by Somatix®. It detects and measures ‘Activities of Daily Living’ (ADLs) such as walking, drinking, medication intake, sleeping, with real-time alerts for falls or wandering. This tool allows for earlier intervention when a patient is at risk.

Patients wear a comfortable and straightforward smartband that doesn’t require any changes to living routines. It grants freedom for patients to go about daily tasks uninterrupted. The real-time gesture detection platform only requires a smartwatch or smartband that has standard and already existing sensors like an accelerometer and gyroscope. It doesn’t require any special skills to setup the device or use it. There are no costly sensors, other hardware installations, or maintenance required. When monitoring daily routines with SafeBeing™, variations in activity can trigger alerts, predicting if a patient may need help sooner if there is an anomaly.

This technology works by leveraging machine learning and data to provide insight and predictive analytics. These tools identify variations in hand gestures that may be cause for concern and alert caregivers. It can determine complex, three-dimensional body movements and how a person’s hand moves, when they walk, run, or fall.

Somatix® uses this platform in elderly care facilities and hospitals to monitor discharged patients. The data that SafeBeing™delivers gives healthcare providers critical clinical insights and continuous contact with patients, which improves the well-being of patients under their care. “We are thrilled to be working with Elan Gardens and Jewish Home, which prioritize serving the individual needs of their residents while enabling them to retain their independence and lifestyle,” said Eran Ofir, CEO of Somatix®.

We believe that this technology, using machine learning algorithms, can recognize a range of complex movements and health circumstances in real-time, which can be game-changing. Patients require constant care and observation, but this tool enables mobility and autonomy. Assisting patients to maintain self-determination and confidence is essential.

The Jewish Home strives to implement initiatives that enhance the quality of life for our residents. We are proud to support this senior remote monitoring device that gives both patients and caregivers peace of mind.
