“Count me in as a big fan and supporter of the Jewish Home of Eastern PA. I have been familiar with its work and service to the community since I was Mayor of Scranton. My wife, the former Susie Blum, serves on its board and the Auxiliary board. The level of service and caregiving is outstanding. The nurses, doctors, and aides, as well as the support staff, are well-trained, experienced, and highly motivated to serve. Each resident is treated as family. The atmosphere and surroundings are clean, neat, bright, and open. The board, led by President Marshall Kornblatt (a fine jazz pianist), is composed of many NEPA luminaries. They make sure that Rabbi Sandhaus and the administration have everything they need to serve the community. I would be very happy to have any of my friends or family members find a home at the Jewish Home. In fact, one of my closest friends, jazz pianist, John Coates, is currently a new resident, and I am very pleased with the care he is receiving!”
— Jim Connors, former Mayor of Scranton
“Words cannot express my heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering care provided for my mother during her residency at The Jewish Home. The supervision and attentiveness was of the highest level. She was treated with kindness, dignity and respect at all times. Thank you to all the executive administration and its entire staff for a senior living facility of such excellence!”
— Donna Mendicino, daughter of former resident, Marion Fundak
After touring several nursing homes in the New York area where I live, I made the decision to place my mother in the Jewish Home in Scranton where I was raised. As a healthcare professional myself, I was able to see the profound differences in the care provided by the Jewish Home. They truly use a team approach to care for my mother in all aspects. The communication between the professional staff and the staff on the unit is excellent. Everyone from the dining room and activity staff to the social work and nursing staff know my mother, are aware of her needs, and have been able to provide me with information about her when I call or visit. I have never seen such dedication and tailor-made care anywhere. I am so thankful that such a place still exists.

I thank Rabbi Sandhaus and the entire staff at the Jewish Home for the excellent care that they provided my mother, Marie Kerrigan, during her stay prior to her passing. The skill, compassion and overall care that was rendered to my mother was excellent and certainly appreciated. Everyone at the facility took such good care of her. When I would leave, after spending some time with her, I did so with great confidence that she was in excellent hands. I especially want to thank the 4th floor staff for their efforts. The nurses, aides, and all other staff members were remarkable in their efforts and were more than generous with their time, compassion and skill. They were also very supportive and sensitive in dealing with our family during this difficult time. Their kindness and support made the process easier.
— Thomas P. Kerrigan, son of former resident, Marie Kerrigan
It is impossible to say thank you for all the love and caring compassion you showed to our mother, Dorothy Bouselli. From the staff on the floor and therapies to all the staff and volunteers that make life better…, we thank you. We were truly blessed to have our parents become your residents knowing we did not have to worry if their needs were being met. We think of you all as family.
